Are you or have you ever been a cardio bunny and avoided the free-weight section?

Never! Girls shouldn't be afraid to get in there with the boys and put on a little muscle. Most of my workout routine is free weights. You can't get those sexy curves you want by just running on a treadmill, you gotta build and sculpt as Arnold would say!

How long do you spend in the gym during
a typical workout?

I try to keep it at an hour, give or take a few. The goal is to get in and out and get the nutrients back in my body asap.

What are you most proud of?

I'd say I'm proud of myself for learning how to balance being a full time mom and having the self-discipline and determination to train myself. It's hard enough pushing myself to the limit while I'm in the gym, but when I get home my girls test my limits all over again haha.

What’s the longest break you’ve had from training?

The longest break I've had from the gym was when I had my 2 daughters. I worked-out up until about 8 months, obviously at very low intensity. I guess I was out of the gym for a total of 3 months for each of their births. The sooner you get back to the weights the better.

Have you had any obstacles or setbacks
towards achieving your goal physique?

A few years ago I was told by my doctor that I have sclerosis of the hips, which was causing all my pain when doing cardio. Since then I have learned what I can and cannot do and can now train around it. All in all I would say that this speed bump in my life has made me stronger and more determined.

We know consistency is key, what tips would you
give to anyone struggling to stay consistent?

Plan! Know what you're doing before you get to the gym. If you're just starting out, don’t overwork yourself. You don’t want to be so sore you don’t want to come back. Once you get into the swing of things you will learn to love the pain ;) . Working out at the same time every day makes it easier to stay consistent. Keep yourself in the gym so you won't need to battle the scales. Once you fall off track it’s hard to get back on. Even on days you don't feel like going to the gym MAKE YOURSELF even if it's for an abbreviated session. Something is better than nothing I say.

How do you deal with cravings for junk foods,
sweets and salty food?

You're doing great on your diet, eating clean and achieving your goals and THEN your kids beg to get ice cream or that giant fudge brownie at the store. This is where your free day or free meals come in :) Once a week I have a free day that I will indulge in some foods not on my daily diet.

Who are your favourite, athletes or fitness models?

I gotta say Jennifer Nicole Lee and Alicia Marie (checkout our interview with Alicia Marie here). These two women have conquered the industry and are an inspiration to me.

What types of cardio have worked best for you?

I have a love hate relationship with the stair machine!!. It works so good but it hurts so bad! I prefer stairs over running for 2 reasons: Running tends to burn away a little of my muscle mass along with the fat, which I don't want. And stairs also give me quite the little leg workout along with the cardio.

What is your training routine like?

My workouts are changed frequently but this is a pretty good idea of what I do. Most of my sets are done to failure, excluding warm-up. Cardio is switched between stair climber, incline treadmill, and bike.

I try to keep my weekends free for my family :)

What does your diet consist of?

I eat every 2.5-3hrs. Each meal has a high protein content with a full serving of veggies. Most carbs are taken in the early part of the day, after 2 I get my carbs from veggies and fruit & LOTS of water. I do a protein shake after the gym and also before bed.

What supplements would you use/recommend if any?

Well first and foremost, protein is essential. I use a protein powder that contains pure protein isolates and has very low calories. I also recommend at least a daily vitamin and probably a digestive enzyme. Taking vitamin C is also a given.

What 3 tips would you give to any woman wanting to get a feminine, CutandJacked physique like yours?

1. Don't be afraid to get in there and pump some iron with the guys! I find that a lot of women are intimidated with free weights, so they turn to machines and cables completely. Free weights are the backbone of my routine. YOU WILL NOT GET TOO BULKY!

2. You have to eat clean! I'd say 80% of the way I look is due to the way I eat. Cut your sugars, late day carbs, and make a plan for every day of the week.

3. Last but not least, you need to take your days of rest. I usually take 2 days completely off from the gym to recover. You also need to have a free day to eat or at least a free meal or 2. You don't want to eat like complete crap on this day or days you can enjoy a little junk food and go out to eat.
