CutAndJacked.com Interview:

Fitness Model David Morin

How and when did you start training?

At the age of 5, my older sister dated a Karate instructor, I became a sponge pretty early.

What do you think about when you have to
dig deep and push out that last rep?

I try to not think at all...I just know that in life many things have been set against our growth. If I were to pick a few things, my daughters, the tyranny of the world or my LUNGS being filled with the winds of a storm.

What are your current and long-term goals?

My own supplement product is in Development 100% natural "SUPERNATURALsups tm". Also some film production, TV hosting Job on the table, more Fitness Print covers and my subscriber’s site. Looking forward to my ad campaigns with my sponsor Dymatize nutrition, the release of Cervifit.com (the only FDA approved neck strength devise), and just continue branding myself and growing, perhaps a physique pro card at age 38 god willing.

We know consistency is key, what tips would you give to anyone struggling to stay consistent?

All I can tell you is that if you have lived at all. you've acquired some baggage, relationships, mistakes, short comings, trauma...don't make the mistake of blocking this out! This is the fuel, the alchemist needs to turn Lead...or IRON in this case into GOLD! Training is the key to connecting your mind and body. The better connected these channels, the better you create and empower your dreams.

Do you listen to music whilst training?

Any 'Tool'...progressive house, Linkin Park, old school hip hop (Rakim, GURU, KRS1)

You have great photos in your portfolio do you have any tips for anyone wanting to get the best
out of a photoshoot?

Try to shoot in the AM, carb up, know your angles and have the three looks down.
Serious, Smirk (sexy), Laugh.

Free weights vs machines what do you feel are the pros and cons of both and which do you prefer?

Machines I use for quick workouts (isolate) and if I have an injury. Free weights are king for building strength and putting hair on your chest! Lol

What advice would you give to an aspiring fitness model trying to get a foot in the industry?

Focus more online...Print as a whole is dying off, define your style and market your look, authentic content is needed badly in the industry, as it has ALL been done. With that said, fusion, functionality and time management is the new age in fitness. You cannot just look the part, you have to be the Part!

What are you most proud of?

Oh man...Lets see, Pro skater at 16 (outlook sk8s), my 4 children, my health at 38, 'Muscle & fitness' cover, my family and my relationship with God, my sponsor Dymatize and my integrity.

Do you bulk and cut or stay lean year round?

I started weights at 28, I was 165lbs and 6ft 2. I did all the off seasons my wardrobe could handle. Now I stay between 6% - 9% year round.

What types of cardio have work best for you?

Sprint once a week for 20 min, stair climber, ocean swim, and crossfit.

How would you best explain your training style?

Intuitive and adaptive are terms that come to mind, I constantly change it up. I may work chest with back one week heavy in the same workout, then back and shoulders with tons of reps but compound movements. Let's just say for the most part it's a crossfit style one week without all the running. The following week it's old school bodybuilding.

What is your training routine like?

I never repeat the same workout, although the total workload and calories burns will be about the same.

David Morin's workout routine example

What is your diet when trying to get in peak condition?

Lots of Liquid egg whites and ISO - 100 ...coconut oil with tonnes of BCAA, Carnitine, leafy greens and spinach with lean fish and chicken. Also some Greek yogurt and nuts.
