I have been active and involved in some kind of sport my entire life. I was a competitive gymnast for 10 years and a cheerleader for 3 years. I remained active throughout college and after, but did not start training specifically for fitness competitions until last year. I have been training for a year now and I LOVE IT! It started as personal training with trainers who trained competitors and I just kind of fell into it.
Currently I train two days on, 1 day off, two days on, 1 day off. My split is Back/Chest, Legs, Arms (bi's/tri's) and Shoulders. I lift heavy and train like a body builder in order to retain my shape. I am doing 30 minutes of cardio 4 days a week, but that will increase as I come closer to competition time.
I do the stair mill or walking uphill on an incline. I also incorporate intervals and plyos into my cardio routine a couple times a week.
My cardio ranges from 30 minutes to 2 hours depending upon many different factors and how close I am to competition.
I get alot of my food made by Midwestern fitness. (midwesternfitness.com) I work with them alot (doing demos, etc) and I have my competition prep food delivered by them. I also make some of my own food because I love to cook. My fridge has lean ground turkey, brown rice, chicken, lean ground beef, eggs, many different kinds of mustard and hot sauce, apples (for post workout) and different kind of veggies!
I love my protein pancakes or protein waffles. I also really like my lean turkey chilli (although I do not have it during my prep)
Candy (especially jelly beans and skittles), frozen yogurt, truffle French fries and nachos/chips and dip! While training, one cheat meal a week!
I currently compete in the Bikini category in the NPC, and am hoping to get my pro card this year! (was so close last year :) ) Some of the pro physiques that I look up to are Shelsea Montes, Jessica Putnam, Amanda Latona, and Nathalia Melo, etc etc! The list really could go on forever. They are all beautiful and work very hard on their physiques. Bikini competitors DO TRAIN HARD!
I must say that I get a lot of compliments on my glutes and legs :) I am able to be very toned while still having curves in the right places.
I love large arm muscles on a man and chiselled abs!
